Cinnamon rolls à la Barbecook

At Barbecook, we love cinnamon rolls! And what makes them even better? The fact that we can prepare them on the barbecue or fire basket, of course! We understand that not everyone always has the luxury of lots of time to knead and let dough rise, so here we are happy to share a simple recipe for delicious cinnamon rolls.

Make it easy on yourself and go for the Barbecook bamboo side table. It is your ideal partner for preparing numerous dishes in the garden. In this recipe, we use rolled croissant dough, also known as canned croissant dough. You can find this handy and pre-prepared dough product in the fridges of your favourite supermarket.

Easily light the Barbecook Jules with a few Barbecook wool firelighters and long matches. When there is a nice flame in the fire basket, place the Dynamic Centre elevated grill, wok and simmer kettle holder and simmer kettle on top of the Jules. Our simmer kettle will act as an oven in this case. So it is recommended to let it hang over the fire for about 10 minutes before adding the cinnamon rolls.

Roll out the croissant dough on your worktable and pinch the seams. Mix the cinnamon into the softened butter and spread this mixture over the croissant dough. Sprinkle the sugar over the top. Roll the dough back up. Again try to pinch the seam closed as much as possible. Then use a chef's knife to cut the roll of dough into 6 smaller slices.

Remove the simmer kettle from the heat and fill it with baking paper and the cinnamon rolls. Tip: as the simmer kettle is very hot, we recommend taking it off the heat with premium gloves.

Bake the cinnamon rolls for a good 10 to 15 minutes in the simmer kettle. Remove a glowing piece of wood from the fire basket and place it on top of the lid of the simmer kettle. That way, you have plenty of direct heat at the bottom as well as the top. While the rolls are baking, make the glaze. Mix icing sugar, vanilla extract and milk with a whisk until thick. When the cinnamon rolls are ready, serve them with some glaze.

Enjoy!
