Pizza makes everybody happy! But have you ever heard of Turkish pizza? This delicacy from the Middle East is becoming increasingly popular. So it's high time for a Turkish pizza à la Barbecook!
Ready to taste the fun?
1 pizza dough
1 block of feta cheese
200 g minced lamb
Ras el hanout
1 clove of garlic
A few tablespoons of tomato puree
Pepper and salt
A few spoons of yoghurt
A few sprigs of fresh mint
Lime juice from half a lemon
In the Middle East, Turkish pizza is called lahmacum (lag-maa-djoen, you're welcome). It’s a thin pizza topped with a red spicy sauce and minced beef or lamb. So Turkish pizza is much thinner compared to Italian pizza. Moreover, Turkish pizza is also not topped with numerous ingredients and certainly not with grated cheese.
For the preparation of the Turkish pizza with lamb and feta, we use the Barbecook Loewy 50. This charcoal barbecue has a sleek and beautiful design. Thanks to the ingenious QuickStart® system, the Turkish pizza with lamb and feta can be put on the barbecue within 15 minutes. To make the Turkish pizza extra crispy, use the Barbecook dome and Barbecook round pizza stone made of refractory clay. Place the pizza plate on the barbecue grid and let it warm up for a moment.
Mix the minced lamb with the finely chopped onion, garlic, ras el hanout, paprika, cumin, oregano and salt & pepper. Roll open the pizza dough and spread the tomato paste and minced meat mixture evenly over the dough. Top with some olive oil.Place the pizza on the pizza plate and place the Barbecook dome on your charcoal grill. After 5 minutes, spread the feta over the pizza and continue baking. Bake the pizza for 5 to 15 minutes until it’s crispy and the minced meat is cooked. Meanwhile, mix the yogurt with the lemon juice and fresh mint.
Remove the pizza from the barbecue using Barbecook’s pizza spatula. Drizzle with the homemade yogurt dressing.
