BEECH WOOD PLANK
Smoking ingredients on the barbecue is becoming increasingly popular. Barbecook obviously did not let this trend go unnoticed. The brand offers two high-quality smokers - the Oskar and the Otto, as well as numerous smoking accessories. Think of smoking chips, wood chunks, smoking dust, and even a smoker box and a cold smoke generator. But did you know that there is also such a thing as a wood plank with which you can add a delicious smoky flavour to your dishes? It may sound strange, a wood plank on the barbecue, but it really works. Barbecook offers different wood planks, each with a specific flavour: cedar wood, beech wood and alder wood. Smoking on a wood plank is mainly done to prepare fish, for example salmon, a true wood plank classic.

HOW DO YOU USE A WOOD PLANK?
Before you can use a wood plank, you have to soak it in water. This should be done for at least 1 to 2 hours, but you can easily do this overnight. If you want, you can also add some wine. If necessary, place something heavy on top of the wood planks to keep them under water. In this way, you can be sure that they won’t float to the top and that they absorb sufficient water. Before you start using your wood plank, it is advisable to grill your preparation briefly on your barbecue. By doing so, your wood plank will give more flavour to your preparation. Then you have two options to use your wood plank: via direct or indirect heat. We recommend a combination. Place the wet wood plank briefly above a direct heat zone and leave until the bottom darkens and begins to smoke. Then turn the wood plank over and place it on an indirect heat zone of the barbecue. Put your preparation on it and close the lid. Smoking with a wood plank is thus best done with a barbecue with a lid. Take your preparation off the barbecue once it's done and enjoy! In principle, you can use a wood plank several times. After use, clean it with warm water and a good brush. Leave to dry for a while and your wood plank is ready for the next use.
